Applications are now open for Young Adults Training for Religious Amity (YATRA), to be held between 15-27 May 2020 in Fiji. Themed “Young People in the Frontline of Transformation”, the inter-religious training programme will offer an opportunity for Christian youth to rethink critically and creatively what it means to bear an account of the hope that is within them in a multi-religious world as they seek to love God and live justly and humbly (Micah 6:8) alongside our neighbours of other faiths.

The name “YATRA” was chosen as it refers to “pilgrimage” in many Indo-Asian religions and languages, and last year’s programme saw  CWM’s flagship Training in Mission (TIM) Programme participants gathering at Yonsei University Chapel, South Korea. General Secretary of National Council of Churches in Korea Rev Dr Lee Hong-Jung affirmed the importance of participating in this pilgrimage for justice and peace, voicing the hope that the inter-religious common experience would “strengthen their (your) transformative will to cultivate peace in the world”, and that they would “develop a collective wisdom and strategy to transform the broken and wounded world into a healed and reconciled world”.

If you are a young Christian aged between 20-35 to be actively engaged in interfaith ministries of justice and peace in your own context(s), please click here for details. The application deadline is 15 February 2020.

YATRA 2020 will be a joint collaboration between World Council of Churches, Council for World Mission(CWM), Pacific Council of Churches, World Communion of Reformed Churches (WCRC) and World Methodist Council(WMC).
