The adverse impact of these Afrophobic attacks has been felt in the United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA). An Assembly Training for Ministry Committee (ATMC)’s selection conference scheduled to be hosted by the South Africa Synod had to be moved to another Synod, because other synods’ representatives – including denominational ATMC Director, Synod Secretaries, TMC Directors,  intern-ministers – were afraid to drive to South Africa, fearing for their lives.

Synod Secretary Rev Thulani Ndlazi shared a litany of lament against gender-based violence and xenophobia on social media, urging all UCCSA churches to use the prayer for Sunday services, and translate it to other languages and make copies for church members and families.
