Directors of the Council for World Mission  voted to elect the Very Rev Pamela Tankersley Moderator of CWM Ltd with  effect from August 2015.  Rev Tankersley will serve as Moderator until the CWM Assembly in June 2016 when a new Board will be appointed.

The Very Rev Pamela Tankersley,  BSC (Chemistry), Dip Tchg, BD Otago University (New Testament and Practical Theology),   is an ordained Minister of the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand (PCANZ) since 1988.  She has served as Parish Minister in 3 parishes in New Zealand for over 20 years.  During this time she was highly involved in the leadership of the PCANZ.  In 2006 she was elected Moderator of the PCANZ General Assembly.  In 2010 she was appointed Global Mission Coordinator for the Presbyterian Church.  Her passion at local, national and global levels has been marked by Christ-centred, community-facing mission.

Rev Pamela’s international ecumenical experience began when she was elected as a member of General Committee of the Christian Conference of Asia, 2005-10; and as an advocate for full participation of women in church and society, she attended the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women over 3 consecutive years, representing the women of New Zealand.  Her involvement with CWM began in 2006 when she attended and participated in a Mission School in Durban, organised by CWM.  In 2012 she was elected by the Pago Pago Assembly as Deputy Moderator (Pacific Region), and as such she has served on the Executive for the past 3 years.

Pamela brings gifts of pastoral awareness and sensitivity, good administrative and processing skills, capacity for hard and diligent work, appreciation for and commitment to team work and availability of time to dedicate to the role of Moderator.

Her family is her highest priority – as wife, mother and grandmother – and when there is time she is a creative fabric artist.
