The Barishal Diocese of the Church of Bangladesh (COB) has ordained two females as deacons – a occasion for rejoicing as it marked the resumption of women’s ordination in COB after a 15-year interval. The ordination also meant that the new Diocese can ensure inclusiveness in all areas of ministry.
A purification ceremony was held in Bengali tradition for the five candidates on 11 December 2021. They were ordained the next day, following the sacred sacraments at Christ The King Church, Khalishpur, Khulna.
