Six churches from different denominations joined to become CNI, which was inaugurated on 29 November 1970 in Nagpur. A United and Uniting denomination, its mission and commitment is to announce the good news of God’s reign through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This demonstrates in action restoring the integrity of God’s creation through continuous struggle to break down the barriers of caste, class, gender, economic inequality and exploitation of nature.
